ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Suzanne Jackson is the author of Penny the One of a Kind Piano and is the producer/co-writer of a musical by the same name. She is a Voice and Yoga Life Coach and helps people find their true voice through music, movement and meditation.

Suzanne received her master’s degree in voice from the University of Maryland and spent 25 years on stage at the Kennedy Center as a resident artist with the Washington National Opera. She is a certified yoga instructor and combined her knowledge of yoga and voice to create her method of conscious singing entitled YogaSing ™ which she teaches at opera companies, universities and conferences throughout the country. Suzanne was the first person to bring formal yoga training into the opera world as she worked with Placido Domingo’s Young Artist Programs and Operalia Competitions.

As director of The Awakening Arts Studio, her clients have graced the stages of the world’s major opera houses, Broadway and most recently the world of Pop music as she works with recording artists directly in the studio. She is also a Voice and Yoga Coach for Emma Stone and had the privilege of preparing her for her Broadway debut in Cabaret.

Suzanne’s gifts as a teacher are so immense that I mean it when I say her teaching is life changing and has brought me into a different, much higher level of understanding of myself and my art. She helped me find my true voice. – Emma Stone, actress

Suzanne is committed to helping every child discover and nourish their true voice and home within. One way she shares this message is through her children’s book and musical Penny the Piano. She developed the “Foster The Arts” program which gives complimentary lessons in the arts to foster children. The first award was presented at the Kennedy Center on September 26, 2012. As a part of this program, Suzanne has taken “Penny the Piano the Musical” to the Snapple Theater in New York City and the Kennedy Center, among others. She has developed a school curriculum based on the theme of “finding your home within yourself” and has presented the program in schools throughout Delaware and Pennsylvania.

In an effort to share her passion for abundant life with others, she creates projects that encourage this way of living. Her discography includes YogaSing, ChakraWakening, Wordless Prayer, Twelve Simple Words, The Essence of Yoga with Tao Porchan-Lynch and she just released her first album entitled Shunia. She shares life with her loving family of three children and her husband, artist Robert C Jackson.

“Intelligent and thoughtful with great poise and character, Ms. Jackson possesses all of the attributes of a true leader in her field.”
